If the skunk wants to leave, it has no choice but to enter the cage trap. To ease the skunk's wary mind, make sure the trap is as steady as possible. Most wild animals will shy away from something that wobbles underfoot. You will also want to cover the trap with a tarp if you aren't using one with solid sides. Because the skunk is going to be funneled into the trap, using bait isn't necessary, though it may make your life a little easier.
