DOES ROPE WORK AS A SNAKE REPELLENT?

IF you're going camping or live in a place where there are a lot of trees and vegetation, you will need to watch out for snakes that may roam the area. When camping, always ask or read up on the fauna that live in that area, what animals you may possibly encounter, if they are dangerous or not, and how to prevent and treat attacks and bites. If you live in an area where snakes are known to hang out, make sure you keep the area around your house clear of larges piles of wood, debris and big bushes, as snakes tend to seek shelter in these kinds of places.

Keeping snakes away can be tricky if you are invading their natural habitat or if you have around your house things that will attract them like food, mice or rats. There are many snake repellents in the market that promise to eliminate or scare away snakes for your house or campsite. Most of these don't really work.

One of the oldest myths about snakes is that they will not enter a space if it is surrounded by a rope. The reasoning behind this is that the coarse fiber of the rope will scratch the snakes belly and make the snake avoid rope at all cost.

This is in fact not true. Snakes slither on their underbellies as their main and only means of transportation, which means that they are always on the ground. Your safest option is to keep the area clean, the food safely packed away (not in your tent), and keep your tent tightly closed at all times.

There are a good number of raccoons, rabbits, squirrels, and rats, and it seems these common pest creatures plague homeowners in almost every state.
