Professional Wildlife Removal Company Servicing Gettysburg, PA

Gettysburg Wildlife Animal Control

If you are having a problem with wildlife in your Gettysburg home, your best option is to hire a company that specializes in Pennsylvania wildlife removal only. This is a specialty business, and regular pest control companies do not use the proper techniques to solve animal problems. I have spent many years reviewing Gettysburg, and I recommend the following:

S and S Professional Wildlife Control Services
Cell Phone: 717-334-3466

NOTE: If you have a dog or cat problem, call Adams County Animal Services: 717-334-8876

S and S Professional Wildlife Control Services specializes primarily in removing animals from attics of homes and buildings - this includes squirrels in attics, raccoons, and rats or mice in homes. Pennsylvania also has a documented problem with bats in buildings, and S and S Professional Wildlife Control Services is specially trained in bat removal. They also perform general wildlife trapping services, such as the capture and removal of skunks or opossums on the property. Call 717-334-3466 to discuss your critter problem and schedule a same-day or next-day appointment.

When hiring a company to solve your wild animal problem, you want these features:
    - Specializes in wildlife removal, not pest control
    - Fully Pennsylvania and Adams County licensed and insured
    - Works 7 days per week (critters don't take weekends off)
    - Performs full building inspections: enters and inspects attic
    - Performs exclusion repairs, with guarantee against animal re-entry
    - Offers cleanup of biohazardous wildlife waste

S and S Professional Wildlife Control Services is a full-service Gettysburg wildlife removal company. This is very different from a regular Gettysburg pest control company. The pest control companies spray poison to kill insects. This is not at all similar to wildlife removal. S and S Professional Wildlife Control Services performs a full inspection of the home or property, and determines why the animal(s) are there, and if inside a building, how the animals got inside. All animals (including rodents) are trapped and removed, or if possible, removed from the building using special exclusion devices. Once the animals are gone, preventative repairs are essential, and cleanup is sometimes recommended.

Gettysburg wildlife trapping - it's not as simple as it may seem. It's illegal in Pennsylvania to trap without a license. Trap type is very important and there are many different types, bait is somewhat relevant, trap placement is vital, and there are dozens of small things that are very important to know. Safety is a concern. Then once the animal is trapped, it must be removed and dealt with in the proper manner according to Pennsylvania law. We offer Gettysburg raccoon removal. Read more about how to get rid of raccoons.
Animals in attics - this is our specialty at S and S Professional Wildlife Control Services. Many types of animals like to live in attics. This includes squirrels, raccoons, rats, mice, bats, birds, and even possums. Critters like to go into attics for a safe place to live and raise their young. Removing animals from attics is very complex work, partly because of the presence of baby animals. If you need Gettysburg squirrel removal, we can remove all the squirrels from your attic, and seal out any future ones. Read more about how to get rid of squirrels.
Rodent control must be done in a very specific way. First off, the most important thing is that all the openings that rats and mice can use to enter a house be sealed. Then all the rodents must be physically trapped and removed. Never, ever use poison! Most Gettysburg exterminators will just use this lazy poison technique to kill rodents, and it causes more harm than good - dead stinky rats, and it doesn't solve the problem. Call us for correct Gettysburg rat removal. Read more about how to get rid of rats.
Bat removal is a highly specialized task. Pennsylvania is known to have colonizing bats who often live in buildings. Bats love attics. If not removed, the colony can grow to a very large size over the years. The bat droppings are often corrosive and cause health risks. The same goes for bird droppings on or in buildings. We perform Gettysburg pigeon removal and bird control. But our specialty is Gettysburg bat removal. We remove 100% of the bat colony and seal the building so that it's totally bat-proof. Read more about how to get rid of bats.
If you have animals inside a house, no job is complete without proper exclusion repairs. If you simply hire a Gettysburg trapper who only removes the critters, then the problem will return. You need to hire a Gettysburg wildlife control company that identifies 100% of the animal entry points into your building, and seals them shut with professional repairs. In addition, in many cases animals have left waste or contamination behind, and you'll want a company that can provide professional cleaning services. S and S Professional Wildlife Control Services does both.
The above are just some of the services offered by S and S Professional Wildlife Control Services. We also trap and remove animals that destroy lawns, such as moles, or digging animals. Sometimes animals like opossums will live under buildings, steal pet food, raid garbage cans, etc. Read about how to get rid of opossums. Skunks commonly live under sheds or decks, and set up a den. We can trap and remove them without them spraying. Read about how to get rid of skunks. S and S Professional Wildlife Control Services also provides dead animal removal in Gettysburg. If you need help with any other wildlife conflict, from a fox, beaver, groundhog, or any other critter, we can solve it. We also do Gettysburg snake removal - most of the snakes in Pennsylvania are not venomous, but call us if you want safe removal, or read about how to get rid of snakes in Gettysburg. And remember, we are a private business, not Adams County Animal Control Services, so if you have a dog or cat problem, call the County at 717-334-8876. Adams County animal services does not handle any wildlife issues.

Gettysburg Wildlife Tip #1:
What to do about rodent feces in attic - The sad fact of the matter when it comes to animal removal from your home is that the removal of the creature is often the easiest part of the job, especially when you consider animals like the rodent, and the areas within your home that it chooses to live, such as the attic. Once you have successfully removed the creature from your home, you will find that there are many more problems to have to deal with, and just one of these problems will be rodent feces in attic. There are three main steps to ensuring that your house is possum-free once the animal itself has been safely removed, and the first of these steps is, of course, the clean up. This means that you will need to remove all of the poop from the attic, and alongside doing this by hand, you may want to consider getting rid of the smaller offending particles by using a vacuum cleaner that is old and not used, or hiring a professional in to do the job for you. You will also need to clear out things such as attic insulation, and in cases of very bad infestations from these creatures, you may find that a much easier task will be to replace the entire insulation, rather than just trying to clean up the stuff you already have in there. Following the clean up, you have the decontamination, which will require certain special products that are specifically designed to kill of the biohazard and disease that the rodent could very well have left behind. Give the local wildlife control guys a call and they can point you in the right direction, and you can always look online or the right tools for the job. The final stage in removing rodent feces in attic is to restore everything back to how it was before the animal moved in, and this is usually things such as replacing electrical wiring or dry wall, making sure that the attic insulation has been correctly replaced, and perhaps even a lick of pain here and there.

Gettysburg Wildlife Tip #2:
County animal services for feral cats - Feral cats are one of those nuisance animals that are the complete result of human negligence. There are so many feral cats now that managing the population is almost impossible. For this reason, most law enforcement agencies will not bother with cat issues, only dog issues. Cats are much harder to catch and rarely pose a threat to humans from attacks. If you are looking for help with a feral cat issue in the county, you may have to look to yourself first before any agencies will help you. If you care about the feral cats and want to see them off the streets, catching them in cage traps can be an effective way to transport them to a local shelter. This will be time consuming for a large population, but it can be done. If the feral cats are bothering you and your own pets, you need to look at property control to keep them away. Make sure that all garbage and pet food is stored inside the building where the ferals cannot smell it nor get near it. Feeding stray cats can be the worst thing to do if you don't want them on your property. Along these same guidelines, keep all areas like porches and sheds well-sealed to prevent cats from using the structures for shelter.

Pennsylvania Wildlife Information:

Pennsylvania State bird: Ruffed grouse
State mammal: White-tailed deer
tate insect: 7-spotted ladybug, Pennsylvania firefly
State fish: Brook trout

You can find a variety of landscapes in Pennsylvania, though the majority of the state is covered in forest. Pennsylvania has a fair amount of flat land and a fair amount of mountainous land. No matter where you go, you are bound to run into wildlife. Warm-loving animals will not be so inclined to live in this state, though the southern region has more mild temperatures than the mountainous north. Because of the slight temperature difference, snakes and amphibians are more populous in the south. Rattlesnakes, one of the venomous snakes in the state, are only found in the lower aspect of Pennsylvania. Smaller snakes, like the garter snake, make their home just about anywhere they can find.

Reptiles aren't the only critters that like Pennsylvania. The state has hundreds of sheltered ponds and lakes, and this promotes a healthy population of beavers, otters, and muskrats. Other semi-aquatic animals include the snapping turtle and the common water snake.

Of predators, Pennsylvania has only two large mammalian carnivores. The black bear and coyote are at the top of the food chain in this state, though there have been numerous sightings of mountain lions over the last decade. The state's Department of Fish and Game adamantly dismisses the rumors, and has been able to disprove most of the sightings. Still, many residents feel there is a breeding population of the large cats somewhere in the state. Black bear, though destructive when they find a bird feeder or an open garbage can, are not seen as commonly as coyotes. There has been a large increase in the coyote population; likely due to almost no predation and ample supply of white-tailed deer and other small game. Because of the abundance of wildlife, coyotes are usually only problematic if they are in an urban area. In this setting, the canines can become bold and dangerous, threatening house pets and small children.

Still, the most popular home invaders in Pennsylvania are of a much smaller size. Raccoons and squirrels are always on the hunt for an empty attic, and rats and mice will take any opportunity to sneak into a home. Woodchucks are just as common and irritating; the stout creatures quickly moving in under unprotected decks and patios.

If homeowners are really unlucky, they will forget to secure their pet door at night and will wake up to find a porcupine has entered the house looking for cat food.
