Washington DC Wildlife Animal Control

Professional Wildlife Removal Company Servicing Washington DC, DC

If you have a problem with wildlife in your Washington DC home, your best option is to hire a company that specializes in District of Columbia wildlife removal only. This is a specialty business, and regular pest control companies do not use the proper techniques to solve animal problems. I have spent many years reviewing District of Columbia and Washington DC, and I recommend the following:

Adcock's Trapping
Cell Phone: 202-558-0650

NOTE: If you have a dog or cat problem, call DC County Animal Services: (202) 576-6664

Adcock's Trapping specializes primarily in removing animals from attics of homes and buildings - this includes squirrels in attics, raccoons, and rats or mice in homes. District of Columbia also has a documented problem with bats in buildings, and Adcock's Trapping is specially trained in bat removal. They also perform general wildlife trapping services, such as the capture and removal of skunks or opossums on the property. Call 202-558-0650 to discuss your critter problem and schedule a same-day or next-day appointment. Click here to learn more about what prices we charge in 2023.

When hiring a company to solve your wild animal problem, you want these features:

  • Specializes in wildlife removal, not pest control
  • Fully District of Columbia and DC County licensed and insured
  • Works 7 days per week (critters don't take weekends off)
  • Performs full building inspections: enters and inspects attic
  • Performs exclusion repairs, with guarantee against animal re-entry
  • Offers cleanup of biohazardous wildlife waste

  • Adcock's Trapping is a full-service Washington DC wildlife removal company. This is very different from a regular Washington DC pest control company. The pest control companies spray poison to kill insects. This is not at all similar to wildlife removal. Adcock's Trapping performs a full inspection of the home or property, and determines why the animal(s) are there, and if inside a building, how the animals got inside. All animals (including rodents) are trapped and removed, or if possible, removed from the building using special exclusion devices. Once the animals are gone, preventative repairs are essential, and cleanup is sometimes recommended.

Washington DC wildlife trapping - it's not as simple as it may seem. It's illegal in District of Columbia to trap without a license. Trap type is very important and there are many different types, bait is somewhat relevant, trap placement is vital, and there are dozens of small things that are very important to know. Safety is a concern. Then once the animal is trapped, it must be removed and dealt with in the proper manner according to District of Columbia law. We offer Washington DC raccoon removal. Animals in attics - this is our specialty at Adcock's Trapping. Many types of animals like to live in attics. This includes squirrels, raccoons, rats, mice, bats, birds, and even possums. Critters like to go into attics for a safe place to live and raise their young. Removing animals from attics is very complex work, partly because of the presence of baby animals. If you need Washington DC squirrel removal, we can remove all the squirrels from your attic, and seal out any future ones. Read more about how to get rid of squirrels.

Rodent control must be done in a very specific way. First off, the most important thing is that all the openings that rats and mice can use to enter a house be sealed. Then all the rodents must be physically trapped and removed. Never, ever use poison! Most Washington DC exterminators will just use this lazy poison technique to kill rodents, and it causes more harm than good - dead stinky rats, and it doesn't solve the problem. Call us for correct Washington DC rat removal. Read more about how to get rid of rats.

Bat removal is a highly specialized task. District of Columbia is known to have colonizing bats who often live in buildings. Bats love attics. If not removed, the colony can grow to a very large size over the years. The bat droppings are often corrosive and cause health risks. The same goes for bird droppings on or in buildings. We perform Washington DC pigeon removal and bird control. But our specialty is Washington DC bat removal. We remove 100% of the bat colony and seal the building so that it's totally bat-proof. Read more about how to get rid of bats.

If you have animals inside a house, no job is complete without proper exclusion repairs. If you simply hire a Washington DC trapper who only removes the critters, then the problem will return. You need to hire a Washington DC wildlife control company that identifies 100% of the animal entry points into your building, and seals them shut with professional repairs. In addition, in many cases animals have left waste or contamination behind, and you'll want a company that can provide professional cleaning services. Adcock's Trapping does both.

The above are just some of the services offered by Adcock's Trapping. We also trap and remove animals that destroy lawns, such as moles, or digging animals. Sometimes animals like opossums will live under buildings, steal pet food, raid garbage cans, etc. Read about how to get rid of opossums. Skunks commonly live under sheds or decks, and set up a den. We can trap and remove them without them spraying. Read about how to get rid of skunks. Adcock's Trapping also provides dead animal removal in Washington DC. If you need help with any other wildlife conflict, from a fox, beaver, groundhog, or any other critter, we can solve it. We also do Washington DC snake removal - most of the snakes in District of Columbia are not venomous, but call us if you want safe removal, or read about how to get rid of snakes in Washington DC. And remember, we are a private business, not DC County Animal Control Services, so if you have a dog or cat problem, call the County at (202) 576-6664. DC County animal services does not handle any wildlife issues.

    Washington DC Wildlife Tip #1:
What can you buy to drive away skunk or other wild animal under the house? - If you have a rather problematic skunk or other wild animal that is wreaking havoc under your house, it would make sense to weigh up all of the options you have available to you to ensure that you deal with the creature in the best way possible. A lot of people immediately turn to trapping and releasing options before looking at the whole picture, which could essentially be overtaken by looking at driving away or repelling options instead. The only problem with looking at deterrents and repellants is that very few of them actually work and something that may have worked for an skunk or other wild animal that your friend may have had in their garden, will not always work in the same way for you. It is easy to get carried away by the fabulous promises made by the people that create these products, and the testimonials for the all of the bizarre suggestions on the internet, but in reality you will need to take them with a grain of salt and keep your mind open. Things like moth balls have been said to work for other people, but again, this is not a guaranteed method for all. Also, you will need to bear in mind the cost - admittedly a box of moth balls is hardly going to break the bank, but when you consider that you might need a lot of moth balls by replacing them every now and again, and placing them in all of the areas that you are having difficulties, you may find that the cheaper option would have just been to call the professionals in the first place!

    Washington DC Wildlife Tip #2:
Will Warfarin kill a possum? - Rat poison is one of the most commonly used methods taken by humans to remove creatures such as possums. It is also the reason why so many wildlife control experts get called out to finish the job properly, simply because the animal doesn't end up dying and just becomes very ill or maimed, and also because the animal has died somewhere in the home that the owners cannot find it! Warfarin is an ingredient commonly found in the many rat poisons that are on the market for you to use, and before you look at whether or not Warfarin will actually kill a possum, you should take a closer look at what it does to the body and how it could potentially kill many wild animals, as well as household pets if you are not careful. Warfarin is a blood thinner, or anticoagulant, that is commonly used as medication for people that suffer with blood clotting conditions, just like DVT - Deep Vein Thrombosis. It works because it thins the blood to a point where it cannot clot anymore, so when the animal that has ingested it, they are likely to bleed out if they injure themselves, as well as suffering from complications associated with anemia, as well as internal bleeding and the blood loss. In short, this will not be a particularly pleasant way for any animal to die, rodent or otherwise. So, will Warfarin kill a possum? The answer is yes, but of course this will be dependent on the dosage that is used. You should also bear in mind that it will take longer to work on larger animals such as the possum. A rat may die within a few days of ingesting Warfarin, but with a possum, it can take as long as up to four weeks - something that you should probably try to avoid if you can!
