Squirrel feces - What does it look like?

Squirrels live on every continent in the world except in Australia and Antarctica. Found all over, they go to the Sciurid family, which comprise prairie chipmunks, dogs and marmots. There are further than two hundred classes of squirrels, plus they are classified into 3 types: ground squirrels, tree squirrels as well as flying squirrels. A collection of squirrels is called a scurry or dray. All squirrels are very defensive and will fight to the death to protect their area. Mother squirrels are the mainly vicious when caring their babies. Due to the squirrel’s diet its fecal matter is usually brown or red in color when fresh. A squirrel will deposit its fecal matter at random but can be more commonly located in clusters and at favored feeding sites. Squirrels basic instincts are to survive, searching endlessly for food, water, and shelter.

Your basement, garage or attic can make a perfect lodging for a wandering squirrel looking to escape the element. Because squirrels prefer to eat outside, you may find droppings in the woods or in certain areas around your house, but rarely in it. Some squirrels sleep during the crux of the day so they are only active at dawn and dusk. This means you might only hear scurrying in your home at night. Finding droppings may be the only way you can identify your intruders as squirrels: Squirrel droppings are always cylindrical in shape with rounded edges. They can have a diameter of anywhere up to 8mm and on average be 3/8 inch long.
